DaShawn Keirsey Jr. was a lifer in the Minnesota Twins organization. But after the club releases him, the Atlanta Braves will give him another chance. Although he didn’t perform quite up to expectations, he took everything on the chin. Keirsey Jr. was sent from many of the major leagues to Triple-A, which can weigh heavily on a 28-year-old who never really got a consistent opportunity to play Major League Baseball.

The Twins finally parted ways with the outfielder last November. However, it wasn’t long before Keirsey Jr. was called again. The The Atlanta Braves signed him to a minor league dealand perhaps it is in this organization where he can crack a 26-man roster with consistency. Twins fans would love to see that for him.

Atlanta Braves sign DaShawn Keirsey Jr. for a minor league deal after eight seasons with the Twins

DaShawn Keirsey Jr. doesn’t have great percussion instruments, but he’s fast and he has a great arm in the outfield. Possessing these two traits will generally keep a player signed somewhere, but he still needs to break through at the plate.

In 80 career MLB games, he is a .113 hitter with a 35 percent strikeout rate and three home runs. He never made a mistake on defense and produced two OAAs in 2025 as a defenseman who can man all three spots in the outfield.

Keirsey Jr. was beloved in Minnesota, but it seemed like it would never work out here. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 draft, it was likely time for him to move on and reset with another team. The Braves have a knack for developing outfield talent, so perhaps some of that magic can rub off on him now that the 2026 season is just around the corner.
