Orioles OF Will Robertson has claimed waivers from the Pirates, according to a source. Robertson, 27, made his MLB debut for the Blue Jays in 2025 and was their 4th round Draft pick in ’19. Also played for White Sox this year. Was claimed off waivers by Pirates on October 13.
It is Robertson’s fourth team in 2025. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 draft, Robertson was emerging as a notable prospect after a strong second half in Double-A. He was a slightly below-average hitter with a tendency to strike out in 2024 for the Buffalo Bisons, but had a strong start to his 2025 season.
In 62 games with the Blue Jays’ Triple-A team in 2025, the 27-year-old slashed .292/.403/.578 with 14 home runs in 233 plate appearances, while his K% dropped from 31.3% in 2024 to just 24.5% in 2025.
Robertson didn’t fare much better with the American League Central team, hitting just .133/.159/.150 with no home runs in 63 at-bats. However, in early September he made an impressive catch, the highlight of his season.
After the 2025 season concluded, Robertson was waived and claimed by the Pirates. Due to the trade that took place in October, Robertson never suited up for the Pirates. Robertson remains on the Orioles’ 40-man roster, but there is stiff competition in the outfield. As it stands now, the Orioles have eight outfielders on their 40-man roster.
That includes recently acquired Taylor Ward, Canadian Tyler O’Neill, Dylan Beavers, Colton Cowser, Heston Kjerstad and a few others. The 27-year-old will have to take another step forward sometime in 2026 to get a shot with the American League East team.
