Florian Wirtz admits that it “maybe a few more games can play” to find his feet in Liverpool, but the signing of £ 116 million is not worried about his early versions.
Van Wirtz may be expected to hit the ground, given the compensation involved in his summer movement of Bayer Leverkusen, but his start to life in Anfield has been quiet.
In contrast to Hugo Ekitike, who has scored three goals and has helped another in his four performances so far, the shape of the German International is more modest.
After an improved show in the 1-0 win over Arsenal before the international break, Wirtz scored an excellent free kick in the 3-1 victory of his country in Northern Ireland on Sunday.
Speaking with the German broadcaster RTL after that match, the 22-year-old gave an honest opinion about his early form in Liverpool.
“It can take a few more matches. It is a different competition, a different kind of football,” he explained, per sport.de.
“I knew that, and I’m glad I’m here.
“When will I score for the first time? I have no idea, hopefully in the next game. It will eventually come.”
Wirtz’s shape so far
Despite the perception of Wirtz’s first outings against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Arsenal, the new No. 7 has still shown its value.
Per Photo mobCody Gakpo (six) is the only Liverpool player who creates more opportunities than Wirtz in the Premier League (four), while only Ekitike (0.55) has a higher percentage of XG and XA per 90 (0.29).
The intensity of the English top flight is seen as his biggest obstacle, but Wirtz (1.1) has also won more possession in the last third time per 90 minutes than one of his teammates Bar Curtis Jones (1.3).
This comes with the second highest percentage of successful tackles per 90 in the team, with the attacking midfielder (1.8) behind only Dominik Szoboszlai (2.3) and Milos Kerkez (1.9) who both played as full-backs.

The Wirtz adjustment period is coming this season as part of a wider system change under Arne Slot, with the setup closer to a traditional 4-2-3-1.
That revolves around the signing of £ 116 million and has therefore increased the pressure on him to perform in – as he rightly notes – a new competition and with new teammates.
He clearly retains a solid belief in his capacities and his stunning strike against Noord -Ireland should ensure that he reports with confidence in the AXA training center this week.
