Fife Flyers celebrated their first home win of the new season with a 5-1 win over local rivals Dundee Stars. It was the first time since September 2023 that the flyers had recorded a winning margin of four goals at home.
“I thought we had a fairly good start that took place from a great week of practice,” said Flyers Captain Garet Hunt. “We had a good team -built week and I thought we really had a good performance in practice that continued in the game.”
The flyers gave a lead of two goals by 20 minutes for another excellent audience in Fife Ice Arena. Ian Scheid hit a Josh WinQuist -pass with just over 13 minutes to open the score, while Vlastimil Dostálek ended when Jarrett Fiske slid over his fold to bounce the puck over the line and to double the lead slightly more than two minutes later.
Dundee started the clearer in period two, and a 3-on-1 where Drydn Dow chose to shoot was their best chance of the early stages-Shane Owen in the way of keeping it out.
FIFE gave birth to three when a powerplay ran. During the previous game, Fiske had just turned it off, giving the stars a line change, and a tired penalty-kill unit saw the puck break to Johan Porsberger to shoot home at the distant pole for the only goal in the second.

Seven minutes and 27 seconds in the third, a deflection of a pointed shot saw the Puck break friendly for Spencer Naas to find the net and get Dundee on the board. Within the last five minutes, Owen pulled an excellent double salvation on the floor and without his stick to hold the flyers two in front.
“Dundee played hard. They had a push but we held it and had a good finish to win the victory,” Hunt continued. “The entire week with building teams, exercises, adding a new player it all comes together. We take one game at the same time, but will now start concentrating on tomorrow.”
Porsberger found the empty net with 2:01 to seal the victory before Keaton Jameson shot a shot home to make it five for the hosts in the last 90 seconds.
