Federico Chiesa had been in line this month for a call to the Italy team, with new comments from his head coach who revealed that he refused an invitation.
Today’s most important LFC head
Gennaro Gattuso previously stated that conversations with Chiesa about his fitness led to a mutual decision not to involve him in this month’s qualifications.
But it was not explicitly confirmed that the Liverpool attacker would have been given a place in the team if he was prepared.
Gattuso expressed on Friday that he was planning to include Chiesa in his selection for collisions with Estonia and Israel only for a call-up to refuse.
“I know what I said to Chiesa, and Chiesa knows exactly what he said to me,” said Gattuso per GOAL.

“We wanted to call him, but I saw a man who was not 100 percent sure.
“And when someone comes and must be confronted with matches and official matches, I want players who have been fired.
“He told me and made it clear to me that he was not going on, because he had to improve certain things. That is what we said.”
In the meantime, Gattuso is supposed to have left Giovanni Leoni from his team to face Estonia on Friday evening.

After he had signed three and lost two of their previous six games in the competition, Liverpool lost the following three to ensure that only two of their first 10 results were in the Premier League victories.
They finished sixth in the last full season of Souness, making it twice in a row, after an end of 10 years to be ended to never win the top two and the first division in six of those seasons.
