Fulham have climbed up the English Premier League to start the new year, with Antonee Robinson continuing his impressive run in the Cottagers squad.
Robinson played 73 minutes in Fulham’s 2-1 London Derby win over Chelsea at Craven Cottage on Wednesday. It marked the seventh straight start for the U.S. men’s national team at left back in all competitions.
Goals from Raul Jimenez and Harry Wilson extended Fulham’s unbeaten run to five games in the league, moving them up to ninth in the table.
Robinson won three matches, made four clearances and made five defensive recoveries, silencing Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer for most of the night. The experienced defender is looking back at his best after missing most of the season through injury.
Fulham will then look to extend their unbeaten run against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Saturday.
In England, Brenden Aaronson scored twice in Leed United’s away loss to Newcastle United. Chris Richards returned to the Crystal Palace bench but did not feature in a goalless draw against Aston Villa.
Elsewhere, Christian Pulisic went the distance in AC Milan’s tie against Genoa. Johnny Cardoso and Atletico Madrid were eliminated from the Spanish Super Cup Tim Wea and Marseille lost the French Super Cup.
