Australia Women showed their class again in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025beat Pakistani women by 107 runs in the 9th match at R.Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama.
Beth Mooney is buzzing with a beautiful century
Pakistan opted to bowl first after winning the toss and got early breakthroughs, but Beth Mooney‘s magnificent century led the Aussies to a competitive 221 for 9 in their 50 overs. Mooney’s sublime knock of 109 off 114 balls, peppered with 11 boundaries, formed the backbone of the innings.
Australia struggled as openers in the early overs Alyssa Healey (20) And Phoebe Litchfield (10) fell cheaply, followed by rapid layoffs of Ellyse Perry And Annabel Sutherland. However, Mooney stayed afloat during the collapse and built a crucial partnership with Alana Kingwho contributed a quick 51 off 49 deliveries, including 3 fours and 3 sixes. The duo rescued Australia from 85 for 6 and achieved a fighting total. For Pakistan, Nashra sandhu was the choice of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 37 runs, while Rameen Shamim (2/29) and San Fatima (2/49) also bowled impressively.
The Pakistani batsman falters under pressure
Chasing 222 for victory, Pakistan’s batting line-up failed to find any rhythm against a disciplined Australian bowling attack. Only SIDRA AMEEN offered some resistance with a composite 35 off 52 deliveries, but the wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. None of the other batters could build partnerships as the Australian bowlers continued to apply relentless pressure throughout the innings.
Kim Gart was the star with the ball, producing an exceptional spell of 3 for 14 in 6 overs, including the prized wickets of Parsha Nawaz And Eyman Fatima. Megan Schutt and Sutherland supplemented her efforts with two wickets each, while King, Ashleigh GardnerAnd Georgia Wareham took one each. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for just 114 in 36.3 overs, falling far short of the target.
Mooney’s masterclass innings earned her the Player of the Match award as her striking proved decisive in setting up Australia’s emphatic victory.
