One UFC slugger is taking a break from prizefighting.
Justin Tafa has fought under the UFC banner for most of his professional MMA career. He has been part of the promotion’s roster since 2019. Known for his fan-friendly fighting style, all of Tafa’s victories have come via knockout.
Lately, luck has not been on “Bad Man”’s side as he has gone 1-2, 1 NC in his last four appearances. To make matters worse, Tafa was pulled from the UFC Perth card in September due to illness.
In a new post on its Instagram pageTafa revealed that he is taking time to focus on his health and that means stepping away from the fight.
“Taking time from this fighting game,” Tafa wrote. “Body and mind need time to recover, six major operations in the past three years do that to you. Time to enjoy the other fruits of life for now and enjoy watching my children grow. Thanks @ufc, it was fun times there.
“God willing, I will be a lot healthier and be able to show you my true potential. If not, God has something else in store for me. I appreciate all the support and love, you guys pushed me through when I thought I couldn’t do it. What a ride.”
While Tafa has left the door open to fight again, this doesn’t seem like a guarantee. Many fans believe there will undoubtedly be a promotion that would want his services given his batting prowess, but the Australian will have to see how he feels after recovering from his ailments.
Tafa’s pro MMA record currently stands at 7-5, 1 NC. His last victory came in 2023 when he knocked out former NFL defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Austen Lane. Since that fight, Tafa suffered losses to Karl Williams and Tallison Teixeira.
