Familiar face returns: Chris Brown joins us as Director of Development – Table Tennis England

Chris Brown is excited to play his part in building a lasting legacy for next year’s ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals in London, after returning to Table Tennis England as Director of Development.

Chris, who will start in his new role on November 10, will be well known to many of our members, having previously worked on our development team.

Chris said: “Table tennis has been close to my heart since I first played with my grandad at the age of 11. From school and local clubs to representing my province and even Great Britain at the World University Games, the sport has shaped my life both on and off the table.

“I started my career at the then ETTA at the age of 20 and spent twelve years working in various development roles before moving to British Cycling where I have spent the last seven years focusing on partnerships, programs and place-based delivery at both regional and national levels.

“That experience has been invaluable, but I feel very fortunate to be able to return to table tennis at such an exciting time for the sport.

“With the World Team Championships on the horizon, I am keen to help build a lasting legacy – from involving more children and young people to tackling wider challenges such as inactivity and healthy ageing.

“There has been some really exciting progress at the organization since I last worked here, and I look forward to reconnecting with old colleagues, meeting new ones and working with the rest of the senior leadership team to guide us into an exciting future.”

Sally Lockyer, CEO of Table Tennis England, added: “I am delighted to welcome Chris back to table tennis in this new role.

“He joins at an exciting time with next year’s ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals, giving the sport an unparalleled opportunity to drive participation not just in London but across the country.”
