The 24-year-old who claimed to have missing British girl Madeleine McCann has hidden damning evidence that she lied about her identity for almost two years under a mattress, it is claimed. Julia Wandelt, who was sentenced to six months in prison this week for harassing the McCann family, secretly kept childhood photos proving she was not the missing Brit under her mattress, according to reports The sun. Wandelt, who grew up in Poland, reportedly had photos of her father holding her as a baby, despite denying any connection to her parents.

During a five-week trial at Leicester Crown Court, the 24-year-old was heard claiming he had memories, induced by hypnosis sessions, of being kidnapped and living with the McCanns as a child, including feeding Madeleine’s younger brother, Sean. Wandelt was convicted of harassment because she showed up at the McCann home on Friday, November 7, sending letters and messages and repeatedly begging for a DNA test. She was found not guilty of stalking.

Before Wandelt launched her harassment campaign, which saw Madeleine’s mother Kate receive more than 60 calls in one day, Wandelt reportedly spent three weeks in 2023 with private detective and medium Dr. Fia Johansson.

Dr. Johansson said the 24-year-old had shared medical evidence and childhood photos with her, revealing happy early years in Poland, despite Wandelt’s insistence that she did not believe her mother and father were her real parents.

Dr. Johansson told The Sun that she also paid for Wandelt to take a DNA test, which revealed she was of Polish, Romanian and Lithuanian descent, prompting her to become hysterical and threaten to visit the McCanns.

Wandelt was also granted a restraining order at this week’s trial, with a judge telling her she poses a “significant risk of harassment of the McCanns in the future”.

She has already served the full amount of her prison sentence in pre-trial detention, awaiting trial, and will likely be deported to Poland soon.

Following the verdict and sentencing, the McCanns released a statement saying they “took no pleasure in the outcome”.

“Like most people, we did not want to go through legal proceedings… and just wanted the harassment to stop,” they said.

“The decision to prosecute was made by the Crown Prosecution Service, based on the evidence gathered by police. We hope that Ms Wandelt will receive the appropriate care and support she needs, and that any vulnerability will not be exploited by others.

“If anyone has any new evidence regarding Madeleine’s disappearance, please pass it on to police.”

The disappearance of Madeleine from a holiday resort in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007 remains unsolved despite extensive publicity and extensive and ongoing police investigations.
