Former vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar has requested a pension as a former member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, said officials on Saturday. The Rajasthan Assembly secretariat has said that his application has been accepted and that the pension will start soon.

Dhankhar represented Kishanjarh Assembly van Rajathan’s KiSdistrict as MLA congress from 1993 to 1998.

He received the pension from a legislator until July 2019, when the benefits stopped after his appointment as Governor of West Bengal.

After his resignation as a vice-president on July 21, Dhankhar has now approached the Rajasthan Assembly secretariat for the recovery of his retirement.

Officials said that the process of repairing his pension has begun, and the benefits will be due from the date that his dismissal as a vice-president was accepted.

In Rajasthan, a former legislator receives a basic pension of RS 35,000 a month for a single term. Those above 70 are entitled to an increase of 20 percent. At 74, Dhankhar is eligible for RS 42,000 per month below this category.

Dhankhar is eligible for several pensions. As a Lok Sabha Parliament member with one term, he is entitled to RS 45,000 a month.

As a former vice-president, he can draw almost RS 2 Lakh monthly in addition to official housing, personnel and medical facilities.

However, there is no pension available for him for his term of office as Governor of West Bengal, although he can claim for a reimbursement of RS 25,000 for secretarial help.

Dismissal as Vice President

The sudden resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, while the vice president of India still attracts political speculation last month. He stepped on the opening day of the monsoon session with reference to health problems, a movement that describes the congress as “totally unexpected”.

General -Secretary -General Jairam Rameh claimed that there were “many deeper reasons” than health problems.

He pointed out in an unusual order of events on July 21, when Dhankhar was chairman of a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) at 12.30 pm attended by BJP President JP Nadda and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju. Another meeting was planned at 4.30 pm, but both leaders were not present.

West -Bengal Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed doubt and noticed: “He is a healthy man. I think his health is absolutely good”.

Speculation has also linked his exit to differences during a movement supported by the opposition to remove Justice Yashwant Verma after a cash recovery from the court’s home earlier this year.
