The Boys in Blue will live to see another day.

Friday night’s thrilling 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 6 of the World Series cemented the reality that a Game 7 will be played Saturday night to determine the 2025 MLB champion.

Historically, the Dodgers have been involved in six Game 7 World Series situations.

As we break down each series, the results are somewhat mixed.

1920: Brooklyn Robins vs. Cleveland Indians

Before being renamed the Dodgers, the Brooklyn Robins took on the Indians at League Park in Cleveland on October 12, 1920.

On that day, the Indians came away 3-0 thanks to a complete game shutout by pitcher Stan Coveleski.

1947: Brooklyn Dodgers vs. New York Yankees

The outcome at Yankee Stadium was once again a tough one for the Dodgers.

New York ultimately won the game by a score of 5-2. Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson and Gil Hodges combined to go 0-for-8 in the loss. Even though the dynamic duo of Yogi Berra and Joe DiMaggio remained hitless, Phil Rizzuto had three hits for the Bronx Bombers.

1952: Brooklyn Dodgers vs. New York Yankees

Five years later, these two juggernauts faced off at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.

Unfortunately for the Dodgers, the result remained the same in the previous two Game 7s. The Yankees defeated the Dodgers by a score of 4-2. Despite a very powerful heart of the order with Reese, Hodges, Robinson, Duke Snider and Roy Campanella, the Dodgers mustered only two runs in the loss.

1955: Brooklyn Dodgers vs. New York Yankees

The Dodgers finally found a way to win their first World Series Game 7 in franchise history.

In what was a huge pitchers’ duel, Johnny Podres threw a complete game shutout en route to a 2-0 victory for the Dodgers. Hodges came up with the two-run hit to ultimately win the game for the Dodgers.

1956: Brooklyn Dodgers vs. New York Yankees

In what was the final episode of the series Brooklyn vs. New York, the Yankees defeated the Dodgers at Ebbets Field by a score of 9-0.

Berra, Billy Martin and Mickey Mantle all had big days for New York. Dodgers ace Don Newcombe was lifted after three innings, allowing five earned runs and five hits.

1965: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Minnesota Twins

From the Twin Cities, the newly minted Los Angeles Dodgers captured another world championship after thwarting the Twins 2-0.

Sandy Koufax was the star of the show on this day. Not only did he throw a complete game shutout, but Koufax allowed just three hits and struck out 10.

Overall, the Dodgers are 2-4 in Game 7 situations during World Series play. A win on Saturday against the Blue Jays would be the team’s first Game 7 victory in 60 years.
