A couple married for 35 years marked the milestone on Saturday with an unexpected bonus, selling their beloved Epping home under the hammer for $662,500.

Sabine and Thomas Heidt, who have lived at 4 Ravensthorpe Lane for nine years, described the sale as ‘intended’ after bidding steadily grew between three registered and five active bidders.

“It was such a special day, a double celebration really,” Ms Heidt said.

“Everything came together beautifully, and we joked that the sale was a bit like our wedding: strong, lasting and full of good surprises.”

Located opposite a park and a local school, the two-storey townhouse combines fresh modern lines with a warm family atmosphere.

Large windows and sliding doors allow light to flood the open living and dining area, which connects to a private courtyard, a favorite space for quiet mornings and easy entertaining.

The kitchen’s streamlined layout, stainless steel appliances and wood-toned floors complete the lower level, while three bright upstairs bedrooms offer leafy views of the park.

“The house was solid and easy to love,” Mrs. Heidt said.

“You could hear kids laughing from the oval, parcels dropping at the door and everyone looking out for each other, it was such a good community.”

With an expected price of $530,000 – $580,000, the house attracted steady attention from young families and first-home buyers before a local family secured it at auction.

Located close to Lyndarum and Daylesford parks, the Epping North Shopping Center and Epping Views Primary School, the home combines suburban peace with everyday convenience, which onlookers say is one of the main draws for bidders.

The Heidts are now preparing to move to Preston, where they will trade the quiet streets of Epping for a lifestyle closer to galleries, markets and family.

“Epping was great while we were working, but Preston is feeling good for this next chapter,” Ms Heidt said.

“It’s closer to the places we love, like Melbourne’s restaurants and galleries, this sale just felt like the perfect sign that the timing was right.”
