United legends Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt both agree that Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson is the right type of player to help Ruben Amorim’s side take the next step forward.

United are on the hunt for midfield reinforcements, with Anderson one of their top targets.
He has emerged as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in recent months and played a key role in Forest’s success under Nuno Espirito Santo last season.
Despite Forest’s results taking a slight dip this season, Anderson’s form has not deteriorated. He leads all other midfielders in the top flight in terms of passes completed, forward passes, passes into the final third, defensive duels won, accurate crosses and touches.

He is an all-action midfielder whose excellent performances have earned him a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England plans.
United are not the only club in the hunt for Anderson’s signature. He is also believed to be on the radar of Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester City.
A report from The Peoples Person stated that Anderson would welcome the opportunity to move to United. Forest value him at a mega £100 million.
As speculation continues over the 23-year-old, Scholes and Butt have insisted the midfielder is what United need at the moment.
Scholes and Butt reach consensus on Anderson
Scholes said The good, the bad and the football podcast: “Elliot Anderson is a really good player. Look, I think they need a little more than Anderson to get where they want to be, to challenge, but no, I think he’s a really good player.”
“When he played at Newcastle I thought he was a very good player. I thought he was more of an attacking midfielder and I didn’t see him in the role he plays for England as a number six.”
“But he really looks like a good player, I think he’s athletic enough too and yes, I think he would be a very good signing, but we’ll see.”
Butt added: “He’s a good player. I think that’s what the board and manager expect from a player.”
“To get Manchester United where they want to be, they need a lot more than just that.”
“But is he better than the ones they have now? That’s what it should always be, you should always get players who are better than what you have in the building.”
When I look at what he is doing now, he seems potentially a top player to me.”
