During Friday’s press conference, Arne Slot reported that there are no new injury concerns for Liverpool, and we already know that Hugo Ekitike is back from his hamstring problem.
But Alexander Isaac (single), Conor Bradley (knee), Giovanni Leoni (knee), Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring) and Jayden dance (hamstring) remain unavailable.
“Yes, we have a few injuries. We have Giovanni Leoni out this season, we have Conor Bradley out this season and Alexander Isak out for several months. But otherwise I think everyone is available.” – Arne Slot
Despite Bradley being ruled out for the season, don’t expect this Calvin Ramsay to challenge for right-back duties soon.
“If someone is really unlucky with the injuries we have, there is always a player who benefits from that, and Calvin [Bradley] is one of them. So he is with us, but I still think I have better options to play.” – Arne Slot
Elsewhere, this is the last league game the Reds will miss Muhammad Salah. He will play a third/fourth place play-off of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Egypt this weekend.
“Now he has to play a big game for Egypt first and foremost on Saturday and then he will come back to us. I am happy that he is coming back because he is similar to Andy [Robertson]Mo has been so important to this club, to me. So I’m glad he is [soon going to be] back, because even if I had had fifteen attackers, I would still have been happy if he would have come back. But that’s not our current situation, we’re so happy to have him back after an important game he still has to play.
“[He’ll be available] next week. We are talking to him about what is expected of him there and what we expect here. [Champions League availability] is something we are now talking about together.” – Arne Slot about Mohamed Salah
Apart from injuries and availability, Slot was asked about the style of football his team currently serves.
“I think we hardly had any chances in the last eleven games. But in the period before that, when we lost a lot of games, we created a lot of chances, but we conceded more chances than recently. Those were more open games, which people may look back on now.” [and say]”Please give us those open matches again.” But the results were not what we wanted.
“So we have to find a balance and we will do that because I see the players growing, they are getting more and more confident and they are getting fitter, as I have said many times. We are just waiting for a moment – because we are doing well, as you just said – when we can start our season even better than we have done in the last eleven games.” – Arne Slot
