Merrimack -Head Coach Scott Borek Ryan Durocher officially added to his staff and filled the vacancy with left behind Jimmy Mullinwho left earlier this season to take over as an associated head coach of the Fargo Force (USHL).
“I am very happy to come to Merrimack College as an assistant coach,” said Durocher. “It is a privilege to be part of a program with a tradition of excellence and a long list of professional players who have developed as Warriors. I want to thank Scott Borek for the opportunity to return to New England and coach in Hockey East. I am looking forward to contributing to the continuous success of Merrimack.”
Durocher brings a well -traveled CV to North Andover. A Suny-Cortland-Aluin, he played there for four seasons and was teammates with the current Merrimack Associate Head Coach And a jewell from 2008-11. His coaching career started in South -New Hampshire for a short stop in Junior Hockey with the EHL. He landed his first division I -performance in St. Lawrence, followed by Stints in the USHL (Sioux City) and the AHL (Binghamton Devils).
In 2020, Durocher joined Robert Morris as an assistant. When the program was cut – and later new life – he continued to Sacred Heart and then Colorado College, before he returned to Robert Morris in 2022.
“We are very enthusiastic to add Ryan to our staff,” said Borek. “He brings a strong recruitment background and a proven ability to help players improve both on and outside the ice.”
Robert Morris Head Coach Derek Schooley went to social media to thank Durocher and colleague assistant Matt Nicholson– He left for Bowling Green – for their work.
