The 19-year-old Walton is in his fourth and final OHL season and spent his entire junior career with Sudbury prior to the deal. In 33 games this season, he scored 24 goals and 28 assists, good for 52 points. The 6-foot-1 winger scored a total of 88 goals and 203 points in 210 career games with the Wolves.
He also had a brief stint with the Manitoba Moose during the 2024-25 season, appearing in four AHL games and recording one assist while posting a plus-1 rating.
Walton was selected 187th overall by the Jets in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and has yet to make his NHL debut.
Similar to Niagara’s move to He, Sudbury decided to send a top forward to a contender in exchange for future assets. The deal boosts Peterborough’s chances of making a deep play-off run in the hunt for the Ross Robertson Cup and possibly a Memorial Cup championship.
