The Duleep Trophy 2025 Closing with a memorable victory for Central Zone, which defeated South Zone by six wickets in the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Skipper Rajat Patidar, together with the support of Yash Rathod and Saransh Jain, led his team to their first Duleep trophy title in almost 11 years, ending a long wait for silverware. Central Zone last removed the Duleep trophy in the 2014-15 season, also against South Zone.
When they came in the final, they had a strong momentum after they had gone through the earlier rounds on first innings leads. Choose the competition with centrally to first bowl. South Zone suffered a collapse on their opening day, bundled for only 149. Saransh Jain and Kumar Kartikeya were good for nine out of ten wickets.
Central answered with a huge impact performance. Yash Rathod hammered 194, while Captain Patidar Contributed to a 101. Jain added 69 valuable runs when centrally ended at 511, which gained a 362-run first innings lead.
South Zone bounced back in the second innings. Ravichandran Smaran, Ricky Bhui and Captain Mohammed Azharudes broke in, but all -rounder Ankit Sharma, who missed a century through just one point, and Andre Siddarth, who hammered an undefeated 84, played big roles. Their 192-run position took to the south to 426. However, the target for Central was only 65.
Despite the target, the morning of the fifth day witnessed Ankit Sharma and Pacer Gurjapneet Singh who exploits the early circumstances to choose three early wickets. Patidar tried to stabilize the chase, but fell after a while.
Akshay Wadkar and Rathod have sealed the victory in 21 overs, which caused jubilant parties in the central camp. Saransh Jain’s all-round sparkle of 69 runs and match figures from 8 for 179 earned him the player of the series prize. While Rathod was appointed player of the game.
