‘Don’t be fit just to look fit’ – Ex-teammate makes grand statement on Rohit Sharma’s transformation | CricTracker

Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has opened up Rohit Sharma‘s physical transformation and improved fitness level. The former India captain worked hard on his fitness during his four-month break from cricket from June to October earlier this year. On his return, he seemed in good touch with the bat and was named Australia’s Player of the Series.

Mishra advised Rohit not to overdo the change in his physical routine and also explained that he should not look fit just to prove his point. Mishra, who shared the dressing room with Rohit in India and Deccan Chargers, also commented on how the definition of fitness has changed in the modern era, and how athletes more often than not prefer quick results.

“Everyone’s body is not the same. The type is different. Nowadays fitness is judged more by appearance. To look slim. It is better to have a real body and maintain your fitness. Eat right, work hard, and you will stay fit. Take care of your diet and do things in a natural way. Do not be fit just to look fit. There are many examples of people who have made themselves look fit in a short time, I will not mention names, but later they face many problems with their body It’s better to be good. sleep, eat right, do natural things. Go to the gym, that’s good, but also go to the ground to run,” Mishra said via MensXP.

Moreover, Mishra also explained that Rohit was also a fit person before. He spoke about his own playing days, with the former leg-spinner elaborating on how the 38-year-old would play an active role in fielding besides batting.

“Rohit Sharma has made a comeback and is fit. He was fit earlier too. I have played with him. People called him ‘heavy’ but I never felt that he was slow on the field or could not score runs. It was not like he was batting and going out, he was also playing and being active. Everyone has their opinion and perspective,” he added.

The Nagpur-born player has played six ODIs India (three against Australia and South Africa) since leading India to Champions Trophy victory. Besides his 210 runs Down Under, the opening batsman also had a decent home series against South Africa, scoring 57, 14 and 75 in the three matches.
