The legend Ab de Villiers of South Africa recently said that he misses his former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate Virat Kohli in Testcricket. De Villiers stated that Kohli’s absence in cricket with red ball is felt by both he and the Indian team, adding that fans can still enjoy his presence in white ball formats.

Ab de Villiers shares his long -standing friendship with Virat Kohli, both on and outside the cricket field. The duo recently celebrated together when the Royal Challengers won the IPL 2025 title. Kohli and De Villiers played together for RCB for more than ten years and created many memorable partnerships over the field.

“We and India always miss Virat Kohli in test cricket. He is a great friend of mine. I even miss that he plays him Red Ball Cricket, but at least he is still there in White Ball format and hopefully many more years,” said the Villiers.

De Villiers gained 9,577 runs in 228 ODIs on an average of 53.50, including 25 centuries and 53 fifty. The batter scored 1,672 points in 78 T20Is with a success rate of 135.16, with 10 half -centers. He also scored 8,756 points in 114 tests on an average of 50.66, including 22 centuries and 46 half center.

Virat Kohli withdrew from test cricket for Anderson-Detulkar Trophy

Virat Kohli made his test debut against the West Indies in Kingston on 20 June 2011. He gained 9,230 points at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 half centuries. Kohli decided to leave Red-Ball Cricket for the Anderson-Detulkar Trophy 2025.
