Kelly, 25, has yet to make his major league debut but has been with three organizations during his professional career.
Kelly was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the second round of the 2019 draft and worked his way up through the organization before being traded to the Texas Rangers. He was then cleared off waivers by the Colorado Rockies in 2024 and spent the 2025 season with the team’s Triple-A affiliate.
He now joined the Dodgers on a minor league deal and was assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Kelly is coming off a 2025 season in which he played 34 games for the Rockies’ Triple-A club, posting a 5.63 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 38.1 innings pitched. In total, he has played 67 games in his career at Triple-A, with an ERA of 7.97.
Kelly was a part of the Futures Game in 2022 and was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2023. He is still working toward his MLB debut and hopes to do so with the Dodgers this season.
Kelly has likely received an invite to big league spring training, where he will try to work with the Dodgers’ coaches and develop into a serviceable big leaguer. Since he signed a minor league deal, there is no risk for the Dodgers, who are always looking for more organizational depth, especially in the pitching department.
