The Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing for a crucial three-game series against the San Diego Padres in Dodger Stadium this weekend, and can be without one of their most important players.

All-Star Third Honkman Max Muncy was scratched from Wednesday’s series against the Los Angeles Angels after feeling pain in his side during his pregame cage. Muncy has tested on Thursday and the team will give an update about him prior to the Friday series opener on Friday.
“Max went into the cage today to start his routine and then felt a little pain in his side, in his right side,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts Wednesday. “We just felt that, talking to the training staff, to be careful.”
Roberts added that Muncy’s injury was not ‘the same as last year’, when Muncy missed for three months with a sloping injury.
According to Casey Porter from Dodgers daily, the Dodgers Utility Man CJ Alexander brought to Los Angeles on the taxi team, probably because they are waiting for a decision about Muncy.
Who is CJ Alexander?
Alexander, 29, was claimed by the Dodgers of the Dodgers of the New York Yankees at the beginning of July. The left-handed umbrella has appeared in 29 games in Triple-a Oklahoma City, and cuts .279/.362/.495 with four home runs, 18 RBIs and an OPS of .858.
Alexander can play anywhere in the diamond, with experience at third base, the first base and both corner field spots at the MLB level. With Triple-A OKC, he mainly played the first base with some time in the left field.

Alexander was initially prepared by the Atlanta Braves in the 20th round of the MLB design of 2018. He was traded in 2022 to the Kansas City Royals and debuted two years later with Kansas City.
He started the 2025 season with the athletics, where he appeared in six MLB matches, 3-out-17. About his 10 career MLB games with the Royals and Athletics, he is 4-out-25 (.160) with 11 strikeouts.
