Mills, 30, played for the last time at the Major League level in 2022, but was out before 2023 and 2024 after undergoing Tommy John operation before he returned this season to professional baseball in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Over 32 games (seven starts) at Triple-A this season, Mills went 4-2 with a 3.46 ERA, with 49 strikeouts threw in 52 innings. He was released at the beginning of August by the Red Sox and joined the Dodgers less than two weeks later on August 16.

Mills was initially a third round pick of the Seattle Mariners in the MLB design of 2017. He worked his way through the small competitions before he debuted in 2021. He made 11 performances that season, which meant 14 earned points over 12.2 innings for an ERA of 9.95.

Mills then made eight performances with Seattle in 2022 before he was traded to the Kansas City Royals. He made 19 performances with the royals before he was designated for assignment after the season and was then traded to the Red Sox.

During 27 total performances in 2022 with Seattle and Kansas Citry, he had a 4.60 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 29.1 innings work.

Mills was at the Red SOX organization from December 2022 until this month. He underwent Tommy John operation in July 2023 and returned to action this year.

How does Wyatt Mills fit with Dodgers?

Mills will offer the pitching depth of the Dodgers, because they are always looking for potential diamonds in the rough.

Although it is unlikely that he will throw this season for the team – especially if they are approaching with September – if he makes enough impression, he can earn another contract with the team for next year with an invitation for the spring training where he could compete for a place in the opening day bullpen.
