Dodgers @ Orioles September 5, 2025: Ohtani gets a surprise start while Dodgers is looking for their first victory of September against another last place team – Dodgers Digest

Surprisingly, the Dodgers (78-62) have solved their attacking problems against Paul Scenes In the final in Pittsburgh. Skenes threw six shutout while Blake Snell Found five runs allowed in five innings and the attack showed some life in the ninth, but not enough to prevent September from being opened by the last place team in the NL Central. Today they open a weekend series against the last place team in the Al East, the Orioles. The Orioles (64-76) are the only team in the east .500 and their -81 run differential is the third worst in the AL. They had gone 2-9 in 11 games before they started this week in San Diego, but the Dodgers did a solid one through the Padres, to score them with 17-10. The pitching of Baltimore was suspected that the season came in, and they have the fourth worst era from their starters (4.82) and the seventh-most bullpen era (4.56) in baseball. They made seven starters this season, and Trevor Rodgers (who starts tomorrow and has an ERA of 1.39) is the only one with an ERA of Sub-4.00. The bigger surprise is their attacking mediocrity. They are 15th (or bound for the 15th) in baseball in Woba, OPS and WRC+ but have the third worst strikeout percentage and walking speed in baseball (23.5 percent and 7.7 percent respectively).

Tyler GlasNow Gets the ball in the opener, which has not been good news for the Dodgers of recent times. GlasNow played in a solid August with a 3.45 ERA/3.52 FIP in five starts, but the Dodgers lost four of those starts, including two different seven inning start. He allowed three runs in four innings two turns ago in San Diego and allowed three points in seven innings previous time -out against the Diamondbacks, both losing while the Dodgers scored one point in every game. GlasNow has usually successfully seen the Orioles nine times in his career, making a .632 Ops and a 3.96 ERA possible. The majority of that rough era came in 2023, when GlasNow saw the Orioles three times and allowed 14 points in 15 1/3 innings. In six starts against Baltimore of 2018-2020, GlasNow allowed eight points in 34 2/3 innings.

This team is so annoying. Surprise in the line -Up today, if Shohei Ohtani Starts instead of GlasNow. After a few rough start, Ohtani nicely bounced back his last time -out against the Reds. He allowed two hits and a point over five strong innings and threw out a season-high nine batters. This will be the third time of Ohtani opposite the Orioles as a pitcher, and both previous times were quite rough. In 12 combined innings, Ohtani allowed nine points and nine hits with 12 strikeouts and two free running. He went seven innings in one start and five to the other, and in both starts he allowed three gays. Both starts also came in Baltimore.

Former Dodger Prospect Dean Kremer Gets his second view of the team that he has drawn up (and traded him for Manny Machado) in his 28th outing (27th start) of the season. It was a usually rough season for Kremer, with a 4.52 ERA/4.04 FIP in 155 1/3 innings. His era had started under 4.00 two, but he handed in back-to-back seven runnarts. He allowed seven points (six earned) with three gay people in five innings against Houston on August 23, and the last time -out was seven earned in three innings in San Francisco. Kremer has shown the opportunity to dominate, with four starts of seven Shutout -innings and another start where he allowed one point over eight innings. He is very touched and madam, with 11 outings of one or zero runs allowed and nine trips of five or more permitted points. He faced the Dodgers in 2023 in Baltimore and allowed five points on four hits in 4 2/3 innings, including gay to James Outman And Max Muncy.

Kremer essentially has a mix of five pitch. He has thrown a more four -fars (26.6 percent), Snijder (20.9 percent), splitter (20.7 percent), zinc shed (18.7 percent) and curve (12.9 percent). Savant also lets him throw three sliding regulators this season, but in the past they never let him throw a slider and all three alleged sliding controllers happened on April 27, so probably a classification error. His splitter is his best pitch, with a touch of 39.4 percent and .227 on average (.199 XBA) and .348 Sluggings (.304 XSLG) against it.

Dalton Hurry starts behind the plate again Will SmithWhose hand is said to feel better, but he still has not grabbed a bat. Michael Comfort Is fifth again for some reason.

——

More about Smith.

He may not be available from the bank this weekend with a bone button. It will probably stay hanging for the rest of the season, which seems great.

——

GlasNow was scratched with tightness of the back.

They hope he just needs a few days to get through it and that he can start early next week next week. Ohtani was scratched from his planned start on Tuesday due to illness, and could have a shorter start today. All their height boys (Emmet SheehanBen CasparisJustin Wobleski) threw on Tuesday and Edgardo HenriquezKirby Yates And Jack Dreyer Each took a collection last night.

The first pitch is planned at 4.05 pm PT and will be on Sportnet LA.
