The Los Angeles Dodgers are back-to-back champions of the baseball world.
Los Angeles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 on Saturday night in an 11-inning Game 7 thriller.
The Dodgers hadn’t held a lead until the 11th inning in the Fall Classic finale (via a Will Smith solo home run), and trailed entering the ninth inning (until Miguel Rojas hit a clutch home run).
With two outs to go in the ninth inning, it was none other than the ace, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who entered the game on zero days of rest. Not only did he pitch his second consecutive complete game in the postseason in Game 2, not only did he throw six innings and 96 pitches the night prior to extra-time in the series, but he also got the final eight outs of Game 7 to help his team hoist the Commissioner’s Trophy once again, rightly earning World Series MVP honors.
In other news, the conclusion of the 2025 MLB season also means it is the end of the future career of Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw. He sent an emotional message to his team after Game 7, as his team that made sure his career ended with a third World Series to add to his collection before it ended in Cooperstown.
