Mookie Betts knows that this season has not been his personal record. He was not selected for the All-Star team for the first time since 2015 and has difficulty overcoming a malaise on the plate.
Betts cuts a career-run .238/.308/.369 and has recorded a .677 OPS through 107 competitions. The short stop believes its attacking struggles have been there since he broke his hand Last summer.

But now the eight-time All-Star is shifting its focus to a more team-based approach. Instead of worrying about his personal statistics and performance this season, Betts wants to help the Dodgers win a new World Series.
“My season is a bit over, so I will have to shake that for no great season, but I can help the boys win every night,” Betts said. “Do something, grab an RBI, make a play – do something. I have to shift my focus there. Of course everyone wants great seasons, but it is a lot easier if you are not worried about the season. You are just worried about the game to play. And so I think I will take this perspective for the rest of my career.”
Dodgers -Manager Dave Roberts praised Betts for following this approach and said that this is the best way to navigate through the last part of the season.

“That is a good way to look at it – getting and playing small victories to win every night, and try to play versus a season in which you do not realize your career figures,” said Roberts. “I think that is freed, and that is growth of him and adulthood. But I think that is the best way to continue for the last two months of the season.”
In his last five games, Betts recorded five RBIs, one home run and one walk on top of his seven hits and six points. Betts said that he focuses on those small attacking contributions to ultimately help the Dodgers go back-to-back.
Betts found a way to break out the last after season, and it is possible that the triple World Series champion could do it again.
