Dodgers dispatch White Sox for sixth straight spring training win

The Dodgers continued their undefeated streak in Cactus League play on Thursday, earning a narrow 7-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch.

Tyler Glasnow made his first start of spring training and struck out four batters while recording six straight outs. He came out for the first batter of the third inning and allowed a single, which led to an earned run after the runner scored after leaving the game.

The Dodgers took the lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Freddie Freeman, and extended their lead to two in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Miguel Rojas.

Their lead didn’t last long, however, as two-run homer in the top of the third by Tanner Murray tied the score and a sacrifice fly in front of it by Lenyn Sosa gave the White Sox the lead. A single by Edgar Quero extended their lead even further, putting the Dodgers behind by two runs near the end of the half inning.

LA didn’t just sit back, with Teoscar Hernandez flattening Will Smith with a grounder to third base in the bottom half of the inning before hitting a solo homer to left center two innings later to even the scores again.

The White Sox took the lead back in the top of the sixth inning on Curtis Mead’s solo homer off Ben Casparius, but the Dodgers more than made up for it in the bottom of the sixth inning. Keston Hiura and Hyeseong Kim crushed back-to-back homers to give LA a one-run lead, then Josue De Paula hit an RBI single later in the inning to extend the Dodgers’ lead to two.

Chicago pulled one back in the top of the eighth for the White Sox with an RBI triple – its first hit of the spring – but Kyle Hurt and Jordan Weems managed to keep the White Sox quiet for the rest of the game.

The win brings the Dodgers’ record to 6-0, and they are the only team in both the Cactus League and Grapefruit League to have lost a game.

The Dodgers get right back into action on Friday, taking on the San Francisco Giants on the road at 12:05 PM PT.
