It has been a rough two days for the US Ryder Cup team, which follows Europe with no less than seven points on the way to the 12 singles matches on Sunday. The current score: 11.5-4.5 to Europe.
But do the US still have a chance? Theoretically of course. But points are so difficult to come by in the Ryder Cup that Epic simply does not happen that often from behind. If we look at the most impressive comebacks of the Ryder Cup over the past decades, it is clear that a victory for the US would require a performance of historical proportions on Sunday.
Below you will find the three largest Ryder Cupbacks in modern times (since 1979).
The biggest Ryder Cup -Combacks in History
Medinah, 2012
This Ryder Cup is now called the miracle in Medinah. The US led by four points-10-6-on road to Sunday Singles. Europe proceeded to win eight of the 12 games and bond one to win a victory of 14.5-13.5.

Various figures from that Ryder Cup are involved in this year’s fight in Bethpage. The American captain Keegan Bradley and European captain Luke Donald played in their respective teams, and American team members Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker and Jim Furyk serve as vice captains for Bradley. On the European side, both Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose were then in the team and play again at Bethpage.
Brookline, 1999
This is perhaps the most famous Ryder Cup -Comback of everything that went the way of the Americans. Faced with a 10-6 shortage on the way to Sunday Singles, the US won the first six singles matches on Sunday to bring the score to 12-10 with six more games. Two more US victories made the score 14-12, and a legendary 45-foot putt from Justin Leonard achieved half the point that the US needed to win. The last count: 14.5-13.5 for the US.
Oak Hill, 1995
Although the shortage in this competition was not as great as the others mentioned Aove-9-7 for the US after day 2 is it remarkable because it is the only other Ryder Cup in which the rear team was rally on Sunday to win straight and not only to keep it.
The US won only four of the Sunday Singles matches that year, with one half. The final score: 14.5-13.5 Europe.
