At least five people, including a two-year-old child, were killed and 10 others were seriously injured after a bus with speed crossing collided with a Maruti Omni van in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh said officials.
The accident occurred near Oil Town on the State Highway that connected Lakhimpur with Lunkknow, under the Kheri Politiebureau.
According to officials, the construction work was underway on one side of the road and forced bidirectional traffic to go on a single lane.
During this time the bus rammed from Lakhimpur to Luckknow in the van from Sitapur.
The impact of the frontal collision was devastating. The van, which had a sitting capacity of seven, wore 15 passengers at the time, according to the police.
Five people died on the spot, while 10 others were seriously injured.
The wounded were rushed to the district hospital and six were later referred to Lunkknow Trauma Center for Advanced Treatment.
District magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal and superintendent of police Sankalp Sharma reached the hospital shortly after the incident.
They assessed the medical regulations and instructed doctors to guarantee the best possible treatment for the wounded.
“About five people died, including a two -year -old child. Six patients were referred to Luckknow after the first treatment in the district hospital, and three patients are still being treated here. We also spoke with the patients in Lucnow,” Nagpal said as we address the media.
