Let’s dive into the work that Kim and Donna have done to help these buy -up buyers buy their new house in Renton.
Set the scene
Seth and Kristin contacted us in the early spring of 2024. A few years earlier they were the lucky winners of a multiple offer situation in a house in West Seattle that we had mentioned. Seth and Kristin shared with us that they were so impressed by our marketing in the house they bought. Now that it was time to sell their house in West Seattle and find a larger place, they knew they had to mention the team diva for them!
When we met personally, they also decided to be represented in their new purchase of home.
Prepare for the house search
Seth and Kristin knew that they wanted a larger house and more land. They prepared for baby #2, and after they had lived in a house with 2 bedrooms, they needed more breathing space. Based on their needs, price and where family lived, they decided to look for a house in South King County. We focused on Kent, Renton, Federal Way and Des Moines.
Here were a few of their other wishes and needs for buying a house in Renton:
- Seth works from home and they wanted the children to have their own rooms if possible
- Seth’s parents also do not like visits and living in the area, so they wanted room for them to be able to come and stay for a while if necessary
- Seth and Kristin are both musicians and wanted a quiet room to practice
The offer process to buy a house in Renton
It was a very hot market in South King County. We did 2 offers and then won the 3rd! On the way there were a number of strange situations – for example, one of the houses in Kent that we offered had been on the market for more than a week and things were pretty quiet. We decided to offer in the house, then the house suddenly received 2 offers together with ours. The other offers were higher, so we didn’t get them.
Who knew things could change so quickly!
Find ‘the one’
One day we found a house in Renton that was on the market for about a month. Interesting is that it almost had the exact layout of the first house that Seth and Kristin had offered. It was the * perfect * location in Renton and was larger than the other houses they had offered! I think the layout and the garden have completely won them. The garden is huge, flat, private and surrounded by trees. And there is a cute pond in the middle and a beautiful deck of the dining room.
They absolutely loved all this. And it had been enabled for a while without offers. So we just got in! We came a bit low, but the sellers were ready to continue, so they accepted our offer. It was a win-win for everyone.
The big win of buying a house in Renton
For Seth and Kristin, the big win was given a house that almost all their wishes and needs touched in a neighborhood that they love.
For us, the big win was to see how happy they were when we finally closed their new house. We also liked to know that they could sell their old house (what we did!) And sell their old house before the new baby was born.
