An iconic Adelaide house that is partly bungalow, partly castle is on the market for the first time in more than 60 years.

The age-old, three-bedrooms Residence of Joslin is known in the inner eastern suburbs, both because of its distinctive architecture and his’ stunner ” parties.

A traditional bungalow facade gives way to an unconventional tower over the main entrance on the side of the house, which has long been a talk point among the locals, according to the family of seller Arnold Geyer.

The Joslin property at 43 Lambert RD is well known in the area because of its distinctive tower.

The turret, which makes the house look like it is partial, forms the entrance to the house.

The house has had the same owner for 60 years.

It is not only the appearance of the house that made it so popular was also known for its “stunner” parties.

“Everyone uses Google to find houses now, but then we would just say,” Go that way and we’re the house with the tower, “said Mr. Geyer’s daughter Steph Halliday, who grew up in the house, which stands at 43 Lambert RD.

“Because it is on the bus route, (the house) is a bit of a well-known function (of the area) it is quite a prominent home.

“I remember that my father took me up (to the top of the turret) to clean the gutters and just think that I was the king of the world.”

Mr. Geyer and his deceased wife Dawn bought the building in the sixties.

Mrs. Halliday said that her mother had always been proud and felt attracted to the outside of the house for the first time, especially the turret.

Mrs. Geyer, a former teacher at East Adelaide Primary School, often invited the families of students to the house and organized various events and parties.

“Mama really made it that way, it was a warm and inviting home for everyone,” said Halliday.

“It was her home, but it was also everyone’s house.

“We had Big Bang-up parties with everyone from school who would fall on the porch (from the house).

The house is located on a block of 674 m².

It has three bedrooms and a bathroom.

It is dated inside but has been well maintained over the years.

It is sold without a price guide.

“People always arrived and went and it was a bit of a hub.

“To see how many people would bring in Mama and fit in the kitchen – I am just surprised.”

Mr. Geyer, who sells the building for moving over -care, said he would miss his gardens, in particular his beloved vegetable plot, where he grew wide beans and, according to Mrs. Halliday, “tomatoes who would die for”.

The sales agent Patrick O’Flaherty, by Harris Real Estate, said that the 1925-built house, with original stained glass and wooden floor planks, as well as open fireplaces, had already attracted several interested buyers prior to the auction on August 30.

“It’s a unique character mix,” said Mr. O’flaerty.

“It is almost a bit of a combination of a few different styles – Spanish mission and traditional bungalow.

“But the time it was built was 20 years before I said that the Spanish mission was nearby, so it’s really rare.”

Posted without a price guide, Mr O’Flaherty said that the 674m² real estate was too small to address developers, making it ideal for mum and dad buyers.
