Digital displays are going to blank forces Toyota to remember more than 591,000 vehicles – Jalopnik

The instrument display in modern cars offers a wealth of information and drivers can be robbed of vital details if it doesn’t work well. Toyota believes that this concern could influence some of its models, so it is voluntarily more than half a million Toyota and Lexus vehicles recalled due to a defective display that may be empty at startup.

The safety return, says the Japanese manufacturer, is to protect against a potential crash, because the instrument panel shows various important warnings for malfunctions. The display in question is the 12.3-inch screen, present in various of the popular brand models. The company has announced in a press release that around 591,000 vehicles will be recalled in the United States, with dealers who have the task of informing customers in mid -November. The recall influences the Toyota 4runner, Camry, Crown, Crown Signia, GR Corolla, Grand Highlander, Highlander, RAV4, Tacoma and Venza, as well as some Lexus TX, LS and RX models.

The number is much lower than the recall actions that Toyota made in 2009 for its defective floor mats or in the coming six years for its defective window switches – they are one of the greatest memories in history in history – but it is still considerable.

Recent Toyota remembers

Ford leads the industry in recall actions for 2025, with the Blue Oval publishing 51 separate campaigns that influence nearly 2 million vehicles – and that was only until 15 May. Toyota is known for its reliability, but in recent years the Japanese manufacturer has also recalled several of its models for various reasons.

Some remember, people would claim, for harmless reasons, such as when the company reminded 33,000 vehicles for defective stickers last year, although the stickers informed users of Load-Scarrycapacity, which is a safety problem. Others were more serious, such as a recall from 2024 to replace entire V6 engines in more than 102,000 Toyota Tundas and Lexus LX600s because they failed too often.

The Toyota vehicles were also affected by the Takata defect -defect airbag crisis of 2024, so that the company led it to encourage 50,000 owners of certain older models not to control them until the airbags were replaced because the Inflators could kill residents. A year earlier, in 2023, Toyota still had an airbag problem, this time with those who were not deployed during a crash, and this recall struck more than 110,000 vehicles. Toyota also remembered around 16,000 RAV4s in 2023 due to problems with the electronic control unit of the plug-in hybrid vehicle, which eliminates the car during cold weather in EV mode.
