UFC Hall of Famer Diego Sanchez is in some legal problems.
A few weeks ago (July 18, 2025), Sanchez was arrested in his hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, after he reportedly fired shots in the air from a moving vehicle. “The Nightmare” is accused of the crime Shoot on or from a motor vehicle (no large physical damage) and crime indictment negligent use of a fatal weapon (discharge).
Now the video of the arrest has been released by TMZ. In the above images, a whimsical sanchez is placed in handcuffs in the middle of the road. He is then agitated and complains that the cuffs cut him, although the officer notes that there is no blood present. After the management situation has been tackled, the officers realize that they are talking about “the UFC hunter Diego Sanchez” and it is admitted that he has seen him fight “since I was a small child.”
The driver of the vehicle called Sanchez as the shooter, although Sanchez denied the indictment. A gun and shell shells were found in the vehicle. In the immediate aftermath of the arrest, the representatives of Sanchez claimed that the incident was the result of resource abuse and hope to arrange professional help for the retired hunter.
Sanchez, 43 years old, has not fought in MMA since a unanimous loss of decision for UFC veteran Kevin Lee in March 2022. He has remained active in combat sports, but confronted with the accomplished boxer Austin Trout in a Kale Knokkelboks match the following year, what resulted in Jiitsu.
He was supposed to box a UFC veterinarian in John Makdessi this year, but the entire card was canceled.
Unfortunately, the life of Sanchez has been rather chaotic in recent years. A “creepy weird” has effectively engaged Sanchez, took over his training and led him to countless UFC and a final without a building from the promotion. Sanchez happily continued from that chapter of his life, even if it cost him $ 100k.
The current issues of Sanchez remind me of two other hunters to whom Sanchez is linked. First and foremost, former enemy BJ Penn is currently in the middle of his own legal drama after an extensive Octagon career.
