Fresh from a victory in which the Dave Dewhurst-owned and trained four-year-old had the upper hand from the rail, Devil’s Wish surged into the lead in a first quarter of 28.1. Driver Chris Long fell back a bit with Devil’s Wish, who reached the halfway point in 58.1 before feeling a light pressure only after 45 minutes in 1:26.4.
Mcwicked’s four-year-old son held on down the stretch to triumph in 1:56.1, while being sent off at odds of 8-1. Longshot Pestcontrol (Leon Bailey) took the winner to finish second, while favorite Th Kay C Crunch (Jacob Cutting) came from a long way back to finish third.
Devil’s Wish, who joined Dave Dewhurst’s stable in January, now has two second places and a pair of wins to his name in just four local starts. Dewhurst owns Devil’s Wish.
