Luis de la Fuente described Spain’s 6-0 thrashing from Turkiye as “flawless” while La Roja maintained their perfect start to their qualifying members of the World Cup.
De la Fuente looked at like a hat trick from Mikel Merino, as well as a trio of assists from Mikel Oyarzabal, Spain handed Spain an emphatic victory at Medas Konyuksehir Stadyumu.
Merino was indeed only the second midfielder who scored a hat trick for the Senior Men’s team of Spain in all competitions in the last 15 years, after Isco did this against Argentina in March 2018.
Pedri also brought in with two goals on either side of the peace, with replacement Ferran Torres also in the deed when Spain produced them on the second largest way in their qualifying history of World Cup.
The first two games of Spain of their qualifying campaign brought nine goals, with the side of the La Fuente that was worth a victory here, after they had registered a expected goals (XG) of 2.42 from their 21 shots to Turkiye’s 0.54 of their nine attempts.
De la Fuente gave up this ruthless and targeted performance, and he was also happy with the improvement of their previous match against Bulgaria.
“Today we were flawless, there is not much to say,” said De La Fuente.
“We didn’t want to repeat the mistakes we made on Thursday against Bulgaria. Today we started to think about how we could be even better next month!”
