If there is a man who knows how to get back from a 0-2 draw at Davis Cup, it is Lleyton Hewitt.
The Culture AMP Australia Davis Cup team has overcome the shortage twice in the 125-year history of the tournament, which takes place most recently for Kazakhstan during the quarterfinals of the World Group 2015.
Hewitt, now the team captain, but then an active player, won his doubles rubber next to Sam Groth, as well as the decisive last singles rubber to send Australia to the first semifinal of Davis Cup since 2006.
Australia will be looking for Channel Hewitt’s Heroics on Sunday to book their place in the Davis Cup Final 8 after losing both singles rubbers on Saturday.
After Alex de Minaur had suffered a upset loss against Raphael Collignon, Jordan Thompson was unable to inform the score of the top Belgian Zizou Bergs.
The captain of the Australian Davis Cup knows that the draw is by no means over.
“Of course you have to remain positive. There is still a bloody long way to go,” Hewitt said. “We just have to keep our chin up, look forward to tomorrow and just take it one game at a time.

“We just have to prepare as well as possible, [hope] The boys recover as well as they can and leave everything tomorrow and hopefully give ourselves the chance to come to the fourth and fifth games. “
The Minaur and Thompson were brave in their competitions, with the Australian no. 1 fighting for three hard -fought sets against Collignon and Thompson, making Berg’s hard work for the victory.
The Minaur remains convinced that they can turn this short.
“We support ourselves in every position. We have had a number of difficult moments, we have returned from a number of difficult moments and everything can happen tomorrow,” he said.
“The draw can run just as easily as we get some momentum. The point is to ask the question and see how they deal with it.”
Thompson was of the same mindset and maintained the hope that Australia will soon be back on Sunday, on the way to their fourth consecutive Davis Cup Final 8.
“We are not outside here. Hopefully there are still three more games to play, and it starts tomorrow with the double,” said Thompson.
“We are just going to place behind us today, tomorrow is a new day, and we are going to start fresh and we’re going for a comeback. Everyone loves one.”
The second day of the Australia qualifying match against Belgium starts on Sunday with debutante Rinky Hijikata who collaborates with John Peers while they are confronted with Sander Gille and Joran flying in the Doubles.
