The eighth inning played out as a recurring Yankees Nightmare, complete with a throw error and Camilo Doval who ran a few batters.
When David Bednar came in with the bases loaded and started walking in a run, four straight balls threw to Christian Walker after they had gone 0 and 2 into the count, the game on 4-4 union, each of the 45,738 in the stadium it could go.
And each of the 45,738 believers would have been wrong about that.
Bednar not only caught the next two Astros to work out of the jam, but continued to win after the Homer of Trent Grisham de Yankees gave a 5-4 lead that became a winning final score against Houston in the Bronx on Saturday.
“I hoped for one [inning] And Bednar for one, “said Aaron Boone manager.” Hopefully, one of these times, I can only get Bednar inning, but just a big effort from him. “
It was a third consecutive solid outing of Bednar and a second consecutive five-out appearance after his 42-Pitch effort on Wednesday in Texas.
Although the confrontation with Walker became messy, Bednar quickly justified the ship, making the bases full of drawers with the go-ahead run on the third in the eighth and an easy 1-2-3 ninth worked.
With Devin Williams who is struggling badly, it seems that Bednar might let herself be changing in Games in Boone’s most reliable bullpen option.

“I think I still try to feel when my name is called, so I’m always ready,” Bednar said. “When the phone passes, I am ready to roll.”
The Bullpen has been a consistent painful place for the Yankees, in which Doval also struggled since he came to the Handelsdeadline, while fellow acquisition Jake Bird was chosen after just two performances.
Bednar blew a salvation in his first performance as a Yankee after a deadline acquisition of the Pirates, but has since been reliable.
Nobody found the 30-year-old almost immediately one of the most important back-end relievers of the club and was the case, but that was the case with Bednar who had spent all 10 days in chalk stripes.
“It was great,” said Boone. “I can’t throw him in deeper. … Great work from him and I am not going to lead him there more than 30 throws. So to be as efficient as he was also in the ninth.”
