Wrobleski made his first appearance of spring training on Tuesday against the Cleveland Guardians, posting a scoreless inning and recording a strikeout of major leaguer Kyle Manzardo.
‘So far he’s playing well’ said Roberts. “For me it is a young player who is having a good year, you want to see how he reacts.
“Justin went into the offseason with a purpose and came into the spring looking really good, throwing the baseball well. I’m excited to see what he can do in 2026.”
How did Justin Wrobleski play last season?
Wrobleski played 24 games for the Dodgers in 2024, spending most of the season between Triple-A and the majors. He posted. 4.32 ERA through 66.2 innings pitched, striking out 76 batters.
He improved in almost every way from his eight appearances in 2024, shaving more than a run off his ERA, allowing fewer home runs in nearly twice as many innings, and improving his strikeout rate from 16.9% to 27.1%. He also lowered his walk rate, allowing just 17 in 2025 after 16 in 2024.
While his ERA is still above 4.00, his Fielding Independent Pitching (or FIP) – a metric that measures factors in a pitcher’s control such as home runs, strikeouts and walks – of 2.93 is better than All-Stars and Cy Young candidates like Max Fried and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Wrobleski made the Dodgers’ roster during the World Series and had a real impact on the team’s performance during the Fall Classic. He made four appearances against the Toronto Blue Jays, pitching five innings without allowing a run, and pitching back-to-back in Games 6 and 7.
If Wrobleski can carry his momentum into the 2026 season, he could play a big role for the Dodgers out of the bullpen as they battle for the franchise’s first three-peat.
