Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and first baseman Freddie Freeman discussed the Dodgers’ status within the MLB and whether or not they considered themselves a dynasty.
The Dodgers have been top prospects in the MLB since Roberts’ hiring in 2016, and even before that. They have won the division in every season but one, still winning 106 games, five pennants and two World Series. The Dodgers have a chance to capture their third World Series championship this decade after defeating the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.
“I think winning two championships within ten years is a dynasty. But three – then it’s beyond question,” said Roberts. “I think we are fighting to be undisputed.”

The Dodgers are by far the most dominant team in the MLB over the past decade, the only thing missing is more championships. They have posted the best record in baseball in two of the last five years, posting triple-digit wins in three of those seasons. Freeman believes the championships are the missing piece to calling the Dodgers a dynasty.
“I really believe you have to win more than two in five years to be considered a dynasty, I guess,” Freeman said.
“We’ll see. Let’s just keep winning more and more. Three in.” [six] I guess you could call it a dynasty.”

The Dodgers don’t have an opponent for the World Series yet, but they will certainly be heavy favorites against both the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays. The Mariners and Blue Jays can play up to two more games in the ALCS before the World Series kicks off, while the Dodgers will have plenty of time to rest before competing to call themselves a “dynasty” in the Fall Classic.
The World Series starts Friday, although there is no set time for the opening game.
