Danni Wyatt-Hodge confident of England playing T20 World Cup final, predicts their opposition [Exclusive] | CricTracker

English batter Danielle Wyatt-Hodge has put on her predictive hat as the drama continues in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The veteran batsman believes England will play the final in this edition of the 20-team tournament. She revealed that teams like India, South Africa and New Zealand are also among the favorites to play the match on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

However, Wyatt-Hodge looked rather perplexed as he picked the opposition the Three Lions could face in the grand final of the major T20 event. During her exclusive chat with CricTracker, she also revealed that the intention with which Abhishek Sharma bats, despite the latter’s failures in the ongoing tournament, is something she admires immensely.

England have become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup this edition, but do you feel they are yet to put together their best game?

I feel like I’m biased here, but I think so England go all the way. It could be a final between England and India, which would be very exciting. England haven’t quite shot yet. They didn’t play the perfect game, which is probably a good thing because they reached the semi-finals without playing their best cricket. You’ve got Jos Buttler and Phil Salt, probably the most destructive T20 opening pair in the world, and they haven’t started yet.

I have a feeling they will find form at the end of the tournament which will be very entertaining to watch. Jos is so experienced and he knows his game. He will be disappointed with how his tournament has gone so far, but he understands his game better than anyone and knows that a big win is on the horizon.

It never tastes good as a batter. I have been there myself, as have many others around the world who have been to that place. It’s not easy. But you just have to trust the process and move on. Don’t give up. A few boundaries, and suddenly it all clicks again. And if so, he can take down any bowling attack in the world.

England have match-winners throughout their line-up, so it’s sure to be a very exciting end to the tournament. Who do you think will play in the T20 World Cup final?

I think it will be India vs England, or maybe England vs South Africa. It could even be India versus New Zealand. They are four huge teams, and I actually predicted those four before the start of the tournament.

But it’s T20 cricket; it’s a funny game. If one or two players have a good day, the game is theirs. It just comes down to who shows up on the day, who prepares well, who plans well and who remains calmest under pressure.

I may be a bit biased, but I think England have a very good chance because they haven’t played their best cricket yet, and that is still to come. But anything can happen against India. What an achievement it would be if any team beat them. They probably hadn’t played their best cricket until recently Zimbabweso it’s going to be quite interesting.

South Africa was unreal throughout the tournament. Even the West Indies could sneak in too. It’s going to be really exciting, and that’s what it’s all about: entertaining the audience and us all watching at home. Personally, I love T20 cricket and I have been watching a lot of this World Cup. It was great to see.

Even the affiliated teams were impressive. Zimbabwe were good, Scotland played very well against England and Nepal were excellent. It’s great for teams like that. I had never really seen Nepal before and I was so impressed with the way they approached the World Cup. Italy also played excellent cricket. It’s great to see these teams challenging some of the best teams in the world.

Which batting style of current Indian batsmen do you like the most and why?

I’m a big fan of it Abhishek Sharma. I think he has had a hard time at this World Cup, apart from yesterday when he turned 50. But I just love his intentions and the way he goes out and hits the ball. From ball one he wastes no time. You just know he’s going out there and trying to push boundaries right away.

He’s been given a role at the top, which is one of the toughest places to bat, but also one of the best because you only have two fielders out. As a leadoff hitter, your role is to be brave and show intent, and that’s exactly what he does.

If it doesn’t get done, it doesn’t matter. He will go again and try again. He is a competition winner. Ever since he burst onto the scene in the IPL, I think he has brilliant technique. He stands tall, stays calm, leans on his strengths and he’s just so brave.
