According to Ariel Helwani, Conor McGregor will most likely not return to the UFC White House card, although the Irishman is determined to be part of it.
McGregor has claimed he has already accepted a date and an unnamed opponent and has urged the promotion to sign him a contract, but it appears a June 14 return, which he wanted, is not in the cards.
The promotion is expected to spend approximately $60 million for the June 14 card. According to Mark Shapiro, president and chief operating officer of UFC parent company TKO Group Holdings, the promotion will not profit from the White House event and views this one-off card as a long-term investment. There are no sponsors, live gates or ticket sales for this event.
Although the UFC’s biggest draw, Conor McGregor, wanted to set up shop on the South Lawn of the White House, according to Helwani, the chances of McGregor fighting on June 14 are bleak as the promotion won’t waste its biggest draw on an event where they can’t make any real money.
There is good news for fans, however, as “The Notorious” is expected to fight on the UFC International Fight Week card on July 11.
Helwani said:
“It doesn’t look like it will be Conor on the White House card. They have an International Fight Week card scheduled for July 11th… He’s more likely to fight on that card than the White House card. There is no money to be made from the White House event.”

Since “The Notorious” only has two fights left on his UFC contract, it will be up to Dana White and Co. it would be smarter to book him for International Fight Week, where his star power could generate maximum revenue for the company.
