UFC boss Dana White has sent a message to boxing promoters about TKO’s plan to change the Ali Act.
As we know, Dana White isn’t afraid to make enemies – whether in mixed martial arts, boxing or beyond. He has never been afraid to speak his mind and while that has gotten him into trouble from time to time, it has also earned him the respect of many in the martial arts world. That said, his latest venture into boxing has certainly ruffled a few feathers.
Ahead of the launch of his planned boxing competition, Dana White and the team at TKO plan to propose an amendment to the Ali Act. While it appears this could pass, there may be some issues raised in the Senate, although it is still unknown how problematic this could be.
There are quite a few people within the boxing world who are not big fans of this proposal. In a recent interviewDana White gave his opinion on the criticism.
Dana White discusses Ali Act
“Yes, I just signed a new contract, I’m here for five more years. Everyone always has an opinion on how this should go and what laws should apply and all that. There are promoters shouting that the Ali Act is perfect, that this is exactly how combat sports should be. Cool.”
“I want them all to stay exactly as they are now for years to come. Let’s see how that works out for them. People like to talk about this stuff as if it’s easy, as if it doesn’t affect the business, the fighters, the events. It’s not that simple. You want to join that world? Stay in it and live with it.”
