October 2 – Montpellier HSC has officially transferred the keys to the women’s football team to Crux Football, the first club acquisition for the group that focuses on a portfolio of clubs in the women’s competition.

Founded in 2001, the women’s side of Montpellier has two league titles, three French cups and a run to the semi -final of the Champions League to his name, which confirms its place under the elite in France. The club has been a talent factory and produced Sakina Karchaoui, Sandie Toletti and Maëlle Lakrar, among others.

Crux Football, goes into the scene with elevated ambitions and a laser focus on the women’s game.

Founded by former New Zealand International Bex Smith, Crux IT is planning to build a multi-club model, infrastructure and expertise to speed up both sporting and commercial growth. The investor base includes media -executives, analysis gurus and former players, including Julie Foudy, Ted Knutson and Backers bound to Angel City FC.

Crux Investor and Veteran Football Industry Dealmaker Misha Sher said: “I have been involved and advocated for women’s football for more than ten years, and although the growth we have recently seen has been enormously exciting, I believe we have just started the start and support of the next chapter.

“What we want to build is to get women’s teams out, really create a brand identity and consider them independent companies,” said Smith.

“There are many questions about where exactly it will land in the future, but what we have seen are sufficient commercial deals that have arrived when UEFA has been unlocked [their commercial rights]. “

No value was given for the acquisition of Montpellier.

“There is a lot of green space in this, but we have seen enough points that have come into data and have supported our projections that are quite conservative … We believe that we can get these clubs in a place where they return substantially, earn quite a lot of income and become really valuable assets,” Smith said.
