Craig Jones has responded to controversial comments made by Islam Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, after UFC 322. Last weekend, Makhachev, making his welterweight debut, dethroned Jack Della Maddalena by unanimous decision.
Makhachev had over 19 minutes of ground control time and completely prevented ‘JMD’ from posing any threat with his attack. After Della Maddalena’s reign ended, Abdelaziz sought out Craig Jones, who was part of the Australians’ training camp, to help him prepare against the Dagestani. In an interview with Fox Sports, Abdelaziz said:
“Hey Australia, this Craig Jones, please deport him. He’s making guys lose. He’s not good for MMA. Jiu-jitsu is not good for MMA. I think Jack Della Maddalena could have done so much better today if he had tried.” [get] backwards, but this buggy was choking and all that stuff didn’t work. And [Craig] I also talked a lot. He is nobody. He’s a jiu-jitsu guy trying to be relevant with the help of MMA guys.
The 34-year-old Australian grappler clapped back at the MMA manager, saying:
“To be honest, we should both be deported. Let’s go to @renzograciebjj’s blue basement, the loser cuts the green card. I only use buggy chokes?”

Islam Makhachev invites Craig Jones to Dagestan
After dethroning Jack Della Maddalena last weekend at UFC 322, Islam Makhachev invited Craig Jones to Dagestan for 2-3 years and also let Jones know that his jiu-jitsu doesn’t work against Dagestan fighters:
“I told him your jiu-jitsu isn’t working. You have to come to Dagestan for two to three years.”
Accepting Makhachev’s invitation, hilariously “Jaccuzi” referenceJones posted on his Instagram:
“I formally accept my invitation to the jacuzzi. See you soon Dagestan.”
