Monday Night Football in Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season is a huge matchup in the NFC between the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions. Both teams are in contention for a division title or a wild card spot in the playoffs. Dallas comes in with a record of 6-5-1, while Detroit registers at 7-5.

Let’s dive into my Cowboys vs. Lions predictions dive.

odds for Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions

Moneyline: Cowboys +142 / Lions -170
Spread: Cowboys +3 (-108) / Lions -3 (+112)
Total: Over 54.5 (-110) / Under 54.5 (-110)

Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions Best Bet No. 1: Cowboys +3 (-110)

Their records may be similar, but this is a story of two teams going in opposite directions. The Cowboys are on the rise, winners of three straight, including two of last season’s Super Bowl participants in Kansas City and Philadelphia. Dallas’ defense has improved dramatically since the trade deadline, thanks in large part to the addition of star tackle Quinnen Williams. With some pressure finally lifted from the offense, Dak Prescott and company get to work. Prescott is playing at an MVP level, receiver George Pickens has been sensational in his first year with the Cowboys, and CeeDee Lamb has been quietly productive – especially during this winning streak – despite being overshadowed by Pickens.

Detroit, on the other hand, is 3-4 in its last seven games after starting the 2025 season 4-1. To make matters worse (or vice versa), WR Amon-Ra St. Brown suffered an ankle injury in a Thanksgiving loss to Green Bay and is questionable for Thursday. It seems like he has a tendency not to play. TE Sam LaPorta is done for the year and even backup TE Brock Wright (neck) is out. The Lions are also extremely confused on the offensive line. A three-point spread suggests this would be an even match on a neutral court. However, at this point, it looks like Dallas is clearly the superior side. The visitors have to cover and maybe even win.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions Best Bet on Player: George Pickens Over 80.5 Receiving Yards (-114)

Pickens has exceeded that number in six of the last nine games, finishing with 78 and 79 yards in two of the three exceptions. The bottom line is that Pickens hasn’t had a bad game since Week 1 against Philadelphia. His hot streak includes four performances with at least 134 yards, including at least 144 yards in two of the last three weeks.

There’s no reason to think the Georgia product will slow down against Detroit, which allows the ninth-most yards per pass attempt in the NFL (7.2). Over the past two weeks, it has handed over 234 passing yards to Green Bay’s Jordan Love and 366 to the Giants’ Jameis Winston. However, the Lions are decent at defending tight ends. They give up the 12th fewest fantasy points and fifth fewest catches to opposing TEs. That means Jake Ferguson could face a tough sledding trip on Thursday, in which case Pickens (and Lamb) should step up again.
