Yankees star Cody Bellinger’s wife, Chase Carter, is happy to have him stay in the Bronx after agreeing to a five-year, $162.5 million deal on Wednesday.
“We are so excited🫶🏽,” Chase wrote in an Instagram post, which included a snapshot of them with their two daughters, Caiden and Cy, as they shot off fireworks at Yankee Stadium.
Her message was set to the song “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra.
“New York Baby,” Chase added in an Instagram Story post.
She also posted a snapshot of Amy Cole, wife of Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole, showing them at a Yankees game with Ashley Rodón, wife of Carlos Rodón, and Reni Meyer-Whalley, Max Fried’s girlfriend.
“January 21 continues to deliver,” Amy wrote.
The Bellinger deal came about after the Yankees made it clear that retaining the 30-year-old was their top priority after he declined a $25 million player option.
Bellinger returns to the outfield with Aaron Judge in right field and Trent Grisham in center field. Grisham returns to the Yankees after accepting the $22 million qualifying offer earlier this season.
The Yankees could now consider trading Jasson Domínguez or Spencer Jones, who would have been competing for the starting job in left field had Bellinger not returned.
