“That’s a huge win for us,” said Tristin Langan of the Clan. “Especially against Manchester. I thought we played a great game and now we just have to do it again tomorrow.”
Colton Poolman gave Clan a 1-0 lead just a minute into the opening period, but after penalties against Poolman and Austin Mitchell-King, Storm equalized on the power play and left the match 1-1 after one.
The middle frame swung dramatically as the teams traded momentum, with Manchester striking the power play through Joseph Nardi after a hooking call on Steven Seigo. Brandon Cutler and Brady Gilmour collected the assists at the go-ahead goal.
Glasgow responded quickly as Brett Neumann was on hand to level the match, but Loren Ulett restored the Storm lead shortly afterwards, assisted by Kaleb Ergang, as Clan began to struggle defensively late in the period despite a late powerplay opportunity of their own.
“After the second one, we just got in the room together and talked about how we really like our game right now,” Langan added. “We wanted to come out in the third inning and keep playing the same way to get it done.”
Neumann tied the game again with just under 15 minutes to play, but neither side found a winner in regulation. Eighty seconds after extra time, Tristin Langan secured the extra point for Clan.
