The first round competition in the Cincinnati Masters continues on Friday, when Gael Monfils and Miomir Kecmanovic belong to those who court. They are respectively opposite Nishesh Basavareddy and Ethan Quinn.

It has been a breakthrough season for Quinn, which in 2025 achieved 10 of his 12 main tour competition victories and was in the world until no. 86. That gives him direct access to the US Open and also controls 1000 tournaments – including the Western & Southern Open. The former NCAA Singles champion from Georgia has won his last six first round races in main trekkings at ATP level.
Quinn will try to hold that line against Kecmanovic in Cincinnati on Friday. The year of Kecmanovic is emphasized by a title in Delray Beach, but otherwise it has been a fight for him-in the extent that his record is only 17-19. The 50th ranking had a bad loss for Zachary Svajda in his Washington, DC opener and then fell to Alexandre Muller in the second round of Toronto. This is a great opportunity for Quinn to continue his winning ways.

Gael Monfils vs. (WC) Nishsh Basavareddy
Monfils and Basavareddy go for the third time in their career for the third time on Friday. They faced each other twice at the start of this season, when Monfils prevailed on 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in Brisbane and 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the semi-finals of Auckland.
Basavareddy set fire from the 2025 gates, with three victories in Auckland before he took a set Novak Djokovic At the Australian Open. Since then, however, the 20-year-old American has won only one other game at the ATP level-one 6-4, 6-1 victory over World No. 244 Nicolas Mejia in Los Cabos. Monfils does not play well either, but it comes down to Basavareddy at the moment nothing less than a complete disaster.
