Christine Ferea is considered pound for pound as the best female fighter in the world of bare-knuckle boxing today, not only by the fans who follow the sport voraciously, but also by some of her high-ranking colleagues within the sport. This refers to Monica Medina, a former BKB lightweight champion who won the gold from Paty Juarez amid an incredible trilogy they performed in the Mighty Trigon.
A former opponent of Medina is Helen Peralta, who is herself a BKB champion [at featherweight] but recently came up short in her pursuit of more BKB gold against welterweight titleholder Jamie Driver. Peralta moved up several weight classes in that fearless title bid that ultimately fell through. Also of note in this interesting landscape is Peralta’s victory over BKFC flyweight champion and Queen of Violence titleholder Christine Ferea in the BKFC ring years ago.
That said, Ferea tried to achieve a similar goal as Peralta by fighting a champion in multiple weight classes, but ‘Misfit’ pulled it off. Ferea defeated BKFC Featherweight Champion Jessica Borga as they fought for the Queen of Violence title at BKFC New Jersey.
Considering her own impressive resume in the sport, Medina said, when asked who she would give the distinction to today as the best women’s fighter in bare-knuckle boxing. [via Bare Knuckle Bowker]
“Oh, one million percent, it’s Christine. You know it; Yes, [Helen] Peralta beat her, but in my opinion, if they ever fought again, Christine would wipe the floor with her, you know. And no disrespect to Peralta, I obviously fought her, she finished me. But I just think Christine is just a level above everyone, fighting IQ to just toughness, to everything. Like she definitely is.”
Christine Ferea and her resume in a no-gloves fight
Christine Ferea was 2-0 in the BKFC ring before her aforementioned clash with Helen Peralta, one that saw the former drop a decision to the latter at BKFC 7 in August 2019. However, ‘Misfit’ Ferea has not earned an L in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship ring since and has secured multiple defenses of her flyweight crown after cementing herself as the inaugural champion in that weight category.
The Queen of Violence jumped from 125 pounds to defeat the previously undefeated champion at 145 pounds in a catchweight match, making a huge statement. Ferea’s QOV Championship win in October puts Christine Ferea in a great position as she looks potentially primed for an even brighter 2026.
