Main Draw competition at the ATP 250 event in Chengdu starts on Wednesday with fan favorite Jerry Shang who starts his defending defense against Zizou Berg. An All-American Matchup contains Marcos Giron and Ethan Quinn.
Zizou Bergs vs. (WC) Jerry Shang
When Shang opened the trophy on the Chengdu in 2024, he certainly did not intend to require a wildcard to return to the tournament 12 months later. But that was indeed the case, largely because the 20-year-old from China missed almost this entire season due to injury problems. Shang started his 2025 campaign with a semi -final in Hong Kong, but he withdrew to the Australian Open First Round and did not play again to Toronto. The left-handed is 0-3 since the return and he withdrew from his first round game at the US Open.
Shang’s title defense starts on Wednesday with a third confrontation against Bergs. They split a few qualifying encounters from 2024; Bergs won 6-4, 7-6 (5) on Rome’s red clay before he lost in a third set of Tiebreaker on the inner hard courts of Paris. The 26-year-old Belgian is in a stellar form this season; More than half of his main tour competition victories (24 of 47) came in 2025 and he is a career-high ranking of No. 46. Even if Shang is 100 percent (and that is unlikely), Bergs should have the lead in this.
Pick: Bergs in 2
Marcos Giron vs. Ethan Quinn
Giron and Quinn will be in their career for the second time in their career for the second time this year. They got away earlier in Delray Beach, where Giron got the job with 6-3, 6-4. The American in the 50th rank has been struggling since halfway through the Gras-Court Swing, but at least he succeeded in promoting one round in New York-where he conquer Mariano Navone in five sets before he fell into Benjamin Bonzi in five.

The first full season of Quinn on the Hoofdtour has resulting in 11 ATP-level competition wins and a ranking of No. 81, but the 21-year-old American has achieved a bit of a speed. He has won several Main-Draw competitions on any event since the French open and he was immediately bounced out of Flushing Meadows by qualifying Jerome Kym. Although Quinn has improved since Giron ran against Giron in February, the veteran should have the upper hand again.
